“Don’t Make It Cute”: An Interview With Rob Janoff, Designer of The Apple Logo
Creative Bits has a great interview with Rob Janoff, the designer of the Apple logo. In it he discusses how he designed the logo, and his reasoning behind the design. Interestingly, he says the only direction he got from Steve Jobs was “Don’t make it cute.”

The “byte” was simply for scale! I love that he didn’t care much for the grandiose ideas people came up with about the the meaning behind the logo.
“Sometimes it’s ok to admit you used a certain colour/element simply because you like it.” Wasn’t it Shaughnessy who said this?
